"You are my witness" Isaiah 43:10
Remember us
Don't forget the lie that they told us
Don't forget that we believed we were okay
Remember the smell of ash and leather
From burnt bodies and the shoes that once shaped their feet
Remember what skeletons look like
Don't forget where we are buried
Don't forget where it started
Help us
For we won't live much longer
And we must ask you
to be my witness.
Witness the events that crushed
Crushed our faith
Crushed our God
Crushed our love
Crushed our humanity
Witness the events that made us animals
Don't forget
Remember us all

Description:
This is a Holocaust poem that I wrote after I went through the Holocaust museum in D.C.
For those who don't speak German/Don't already know the gate in the picture is the gate to Aushwitz and it says "Work will make you free" which is the lie I refer to in my poem. - Date: 05/22/2011
