The tower loomed above
marble walls white as a dove
the world outside the rampant walls
shivers as the world inside calls
taps run up your spine
as the wall presents the sunlight inside
to pour out the rounded stone bricks
into the garden where balls have been kicked
grass withers beneath the junipter tree
where children have waited long for he
Here a bed of roses grow
though no-where else as if they know
where the man would lay the children to rest
their only bed and their only nest
for within the tangled roots of the twisted tree
there is a sight no-one should ever see.
