Like a vivid interpretaton of the malformations
of the human genome
words show our true nature
Words have brought entire nations to rally and riot
without real reason
but the resonance of the rambunctious races of humanity rave on
At the first brushstroke,
you fall to your knees at the beauty
of something so simple said through the sick mouth of a sinner
because words will move you
like an earthquake in the Caribbean
like a hurricane in the bayou
until crawdads bounce off buildings and billboards
that boast boisterous banality
and then all is still
from the charge of another word
A word so skillfully designed to flow with all others
til you discover its magnitude and conjure respect
This word, when painted in watercolor,
blends with pastel adjectives,
acryllic verbs, crayon adverbs, and pencil-etched exclaimations
This word has been revised through the eyes
of those who denied
but ultimately it stands fast
No Mona Lisa smile could outshine,
No great statue could ever out think,
No melted clock could ever outlast,
my Words

- Hm. For 2 minutes, it was quite good. smile I enjoyed your use of metaphors, assonance, and personification. You've obviously been listening in class! smile It is a tad ironic that you argue the superiority of one form of art over another, but I think this irony adds to your poem. It proves the subjectivity of words. ^^
