Shouldn’t have done it.

Should’ve seen this coming.
This was going to be the year
Where everything turned around.
This was going to be the best.
But that never happens.
Only in fairytales.
Were you wrong in wishing it would
work out?
No.
But you were wrong in
Having faith.

Should’ve seen this coming.
This is what happens when
You expect too much from
One person.
You are disappointed.
You are bitter.
You are someone you never
Wished to be,
But this ugly beast emerged anyway.
Your faith in others
Is waning,
Because you can’t trust them.
Can’t even trust yourself.

Should’ve seen this coming.
How stupid can you be?
How naïve,
How unwilling,
How sorry can you be?
To think this would work out?
To know things can get worse,
And this is just the beginning?
Everything you’ve accomplished
Thrown away in seconds,
Just because someone can’t
Handle it anymore.
Because you’re the one who is wrong.
Should’ve seen it coming.
But you didn’t,
And now you get to pay for it
While everyone else goes on.
