A Single Dead, Red Rose
Why do I still have it,
this dead, red rose,
that I was given,
once long ago?
Perhaps you can help me,
solve this mystery,
by hearing the tale,
of this rose’s history.
It was given as a gift,
from a young woman, see?
She was one of the few,
who could tolerate me.
We were together,
For a short time.
I had her hand,
And she had mine.
Care for the other?
Of course that was there,
but love was nonexistent,
in our little pair.
She said she wasn’t sure,
if I owned her heart.
I said until she was,
I’d rather be apart.
The two of us split,
going our separate ways,
and we were okay,
for a couple days.
Bad blood manifested,
and grew between us.
Pockets of care,
became filled with disgust.
I suppose both sides,
did things they regret,
but the past can’t be changed,
once it has been set.
Why do I still have it,
this dead, red rose,
just like that friendship,
once long ago?

- Hmmmm....did it blow me away? No. Was it good? Yes. I like that it has meaning in it, and that you took something that happened to you and make it into a work of art, it may not have been amazing but it was defenitely good, defenitely memorable
