I lie in the dark
Awaiting his burning touch
The joyous trail of fire
His will, the violent spark
I fear the absence of warmth
For the knowledge that the loss
Is also the loss of half of my own soul
The cold, the after effect of all-consuming desire
I hear the warning in their voices
Saying I will surely be burned
But I fear not, but reach for the flames
The most beautifully tragic of choices
For should he choose to leave
And in so, taking all light
I shall never again feel such soul-deep desire
But never regret, though my heart will surely bleed
For I once felt that constant flame
And in so, knew the lasting pain
That none could bring me to these heights
And none could bring my life such light
In my darkness, the only light
The constant flame blazing in his eyes
A sure reflection of my own
In these flames, I'm finally home.
Dedicated to Iggy.
