He spoke to me of great things
Unlawful, seeming such a man
Should speak ever of greatness.
He told me of bridges broken,
Impassible the empty chasm's rift
Of dead bones, into paths, now filled.
He spoke to me the hidden truths
Which history found of no import
To preserve from 'savage' cultures.
He spoke to me of revolutions,
Though slow in their execution
To topple slanted barriers down.
He spoke to me of responsibility
To tell the story: man, woman, child -
Of justice denied as rightfully approved.
