Noises.
Senses returning,
Grey mist clearing,
Light up above,
Senseless but hearing.
A feeling of softness,
Against its back,
A murmur of voices,
Some gentle, some laughter.
Change!
A light hiss is heard,
The voices change,
Those that were soft,
Are now loud and in charge.
A rushing of feet,
The swishing of clothes,
The smell of fresh blood,
A light hum goes by.
Questions.
Whose blood is it?
That smells so strange,
Like fresh fallen leaves,
In Autumn’s short reign.
What light is that?
Both soft and gentle,
A soothing light,
Not harsh and bright.
Senses returning,
The voices have changed,
Those who were loud,
Once again become soft.
Sight.
Eyes open now,
The light is a fire,
Contained in an orb,
Floating above it.
The hatchling tries,
To sit up and look,
At surroundings white,
But is pushed back.
A face and an arm,
A woman in white,
Her voice is nice,
Her words are kind.
Attention.
The woman says,
To “Please hold still,
Your injuries are
Not yet healed.”
The Hatchling tried
To answer her,
Its voice failed,
Died in its throat.
She smiled and said
In a voice laced with honey,
“Sleep now young one,
And wake again later.”
Asleep.

Drifting.
Between thoughts,
Between dreams,
No pain and no screams,
The Hatchling slept.
A dream appeared,
A cool gentle beach,
The ocean stretched out,
Forever and ever.
A sound of a step,
Lightly cushioned in sand,
The sound of two songs,
Gently lifting and falling.
The Hatchling turned,
The singers continued,
Two sisters in blue,
The sea in their song.
Expression.
One sister stopped,
And looked at the Hatchling,
She smiled and said,
“I know you now.”
The Hatchling stepped forwards,
Questioning the dream,
The sister continued,
Her voice from far away.
“My name is irrelevant,
You will learn it in time.
Your name is important,
But it remains hidden.”
Puzzlement.
The Hatchling thought,
About the soft words,
The sister spoke,
About its name.
The hidden name,
The lost name,
A proper name,
A final name.
The sister began,
To sing again,
Joining voice,
With the other.
The Hatchling faded,
Now deep in sleep,
Its questions floundered,
Then for silence are traded.
No dreams.
