My soul
It used to be an open book
ready for anyone to see
But through the years
of ridicule
and reprimands
It is firmly closed
and locked away
So I can't
be shamed
For the things
that make me...
me
To keep me safe
I did this
but all that happened
was an overflowing dam
of pent up emotions
And now the lock
is broken
The pages torn
And the shaming
begins anew
as a torrent of rain
drenching the pages of my soul

- I used a shakesphere word redress = to correct or remedy. Embarrassed.

- ...And when I feel so angry that I could spite the world. I see the innocents who don't need to build a covering for themselves; even myself from the past. And, for me at least, I'm calmed. They are the future and I was the future in the past. How can the world be so bad if there is innocence? I just wish it could stay simple, but no, life just gets more and more complex as we age. I redress...I think too much.
