I step outside into the autumn air
Surrounded by explosions of color
The hues of leaves as they dance in the breeze
Or lay in bright bursts against the dry grass
Bright crimson, a muted gold, or any shade in between
But
As my feet break the delicate veins of these leaves
With the crunching sound that is a part of the season,
Even as I partake in the vibrant colors aroundme
I know that in three weeks time it will be gone
Eventually, these colors will desaturate into a dust brown
The brightness to grey
Today, everything is clear and sharp
Defined by perfect crisp lines
As if the scenery before me has been drawn on canvas
With the sharpest of pencils
But these clean lines will blur
Into the soft landscape of winter snow
The impending frost now looms over me
Like a black cloud
Every foggy breath reminds me of the impending icicles
Soon the season will be dragged down
To bleak shades of black and white
It will be tragic to watch the colors die
And now as I lament over summer's misfortune
I sometimes forget that
This too shall pass
The cold, the dark, the loneliness of winter will be only for a season
Only for a season
Spring will come again

- Description: We had to write a poem inspired by Autumn for my English class, and this is what i came up with. I enjoy writing poetry, but I'm not very good. It's a bit out of season, but I hope you enjoy it anyways!

I loved the intense imagery behind your poem! Playing upon the seasons as your emotions is an overused concept; however, I think you pulled it off very well. I'd love to see more form you.
