Hope can let you down,
It forgets whats in your heart.
And yet its ever knowing--ever loving,
From the start.
But in its haste for loving,
it kills the very soul.
Although its ever knowing,
it never knew me at all.
Through life's every trial,
it has lessons with grief.
for in hoping came the knowledge
of empty promises and belief.
Why are you reading,
this tale of common woe?
For of hope's one true deceit,
you already know.
