Forget about Cinderella
She's just a fairytale that isn't for me
I'm tired of the lies and the talking mice
A perfect prince won't set me free

Cinderella just got lucky
That's all it is to me
Her tiny foot fit in a dainty slipper
How real is that supposed to be?

My foot wouldn't fit in a glass slipper
I can't wear a glistening gown
The mice in my house won't turn into horses
I'm not fit, I'm so dressed down

My gown is a pair of scruffy jeans
That drag along the floor
Glass slippers are Nikes with big black stripes
Love isn't what I'm living for

The pumpkin carriage is a cheap old Cadillac
Paint is missing in spots
THe prince won't bow down for my hand
He wouldn't risk the shot

'Sing sweet nightingale' all you want
The Grinns were wrong there too
How are we supposed to believe
That you can walk in a glass shoe?

Mice can't make dresses
And birds don't sing a song with you
A dress won't come from a tree
The fairytale is through

I've turned in my tiara from my tries
I'm wearing my favorite old baseball cap
My prince will be strong and true
But he won't get in a flap

So here's the end of my lament
The death of the unattainable dream
My story's not over yet
And my happily never after is all that it seems

I like the idea, but its not that you aren't perfect, because you are perfectly you. It's life that hasn't turned out the way you wanted it to. You want, which creates a need. Unfilled needs create unhappiness. The story created the want. In the original story, she wore fur slippers btw
