The small scared child wonders if his life will be spared
While I sit and ponder how this Christmas will be shared
His dark skin beaten and torn from its place
I set out the table and ask the family to say grace
This boy he has no clue what Christmas really is
I’m happily enjoying what that boy is going to miss
He’s never seen the snow with the children at play
He’ll never see the glow of this Christmas day
I want to be happy about this anyway
But it’s too hard to talk when I’ve got nothing to say
The wife glances up as a gloss fills my eye
That African land leaving so many to cry
I feel their pain pulsing in my heart
This day has really lost its spark
200,000 rebels still gun in hand
Killing one another against God’s demand
I want to go and help them
But I don’t think I can
The wife she still stares waiting for my plan
“I’m sorry I’m out of it, I just can’t crack a smile.”
“I know dear,” she says “This world is so vile.”
Then we bow our heads over our delightful meal
And hope in our hearts those poor children will be healed.

- Description: If you know about the rebels in Africa it is a very gruesome horrible lifestyle. They kill endless amounts of families and use innocent children and force them to kill everyday. I think of this every time I enjoy myself only even for a minute. Sadly I didn't get enough time to put this up for the Christmas contest. I was offline! I was sad when I found out it was over. =(
