I was here, waiting
Waiting for you to come
You and I planned to spend time together
To have a day that would dazzle me
But you left me here waiting
Waiting in my outfit specially picked for today
My hair done so very nicely
My make up doesn’t have a single flaw
But you never showed
I was left in the dust
Or in the wet, wet rain
I wish you could have at least called
Now I look upon this lonely street
And I remember how stupid I was for believing you would come
But right now…
I see a figure
I look closer
I look as hard as I can at the figure getting closer
And I see your smiling face
You get close enough for me to no longer struggle
I take in your aroma and I really see how much I’ve really missed you
How much I have longed for you
At that moment I thought I was in Hell
Or was it Heaven I really couldn’t tell
And I didn’t want to know
I was numb
Numb from the spot you touch me now
Your touch leaves an ice cold feel
Like my arm was going to fall off
Then I hear your voice say my name
I look into your shining eyes
And I feel alive almost full again
I asked why you left for such a long time
You explained
Tears started to fall from my eyes
How foolish could I have been to think you truly wanted to leave
I fall into your arms and you hold me tight
I crashed and you stayed
You stayed to protect and hold me
I waited for such a long time
I didn’t need to
You were always here
I just needed to feel my way through the darkness…
