Well, I had just woke up on Saturday morning and bumped my head on the ceiling. Ouch! I wondered how I got up there, looked down, and remembered the bunk bed I was on. Oh yeah.. That was stupid of me. I yawned and waited for the rest of my troop to wake up. I would have sat up, but I couldn't due to the fact of being so close to the ceiling.
While I lay there thinking of the day ahead, I thought about what my parents and brother were doing at home. I was camping with my girl scout troop at a camp called 'Camp Groovy', and so far it was a BLAST. Don't get me wrong, I was only eight years old at the time. So don't bug me.
I got tired of waiting and screamed for my troop to wake up. "AHHHHHHHHH! WAAAAAKE UUUUP IT'S ALMOST TIME FOR BREAKFAAAAAAAST!"
"Cheyann, shut the heck up!" Shouted a grumpy Katie.
"That was un-called for!" Shouted the leader, Tami.
"Oh well, let's just wake up. She's right anyway, look at the clock, Tami!" Said Haley.
We got up and got ourselves ready for breakfast, then marched out of our cabin and waited to get our breakfast, keeping entertained by the P.A'S (The oldest girls that the younger girls look up to) dance and sing silly camp songs. We all laughed and clapped and sang along too.
After a delicious breakfast of pancakes with syrup, there was a HUGE crowd at the door as all the girls and troop leaders wanted to get to their camp activities right away. I managed to squeeze out, but I did not notice that my troop was going in a different direction. I looked around wondering where they were.... and THERE! I literally saw a troop that looked EXACTLY LIKE MINE. So I ran along over to them and got in the back of the line. Oops. Well, I swear that the back of their heads looked like my troop, at least!
Surprisingly, none of them noticed me. Even when I accidently followed them in their cabin did I realize that something was kind of fishy. I was so mad at myself that I growled and dashed out of the cabin, embarassed. I ran into my real troop at my cabin, with Tami doing yet another headcount.
"1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7.... 7... 8? Where's 8?! Who's missing?!" Tami saw me and shouted, "EIGHT! GET OVER HERE, YOU COULD GET LOST!"
"Eight? I'm Cheyann," I started laughing and told her the whole story about following the wrong troop.
Everybody started laughing. And ever since Tami called me Eight that day, I would respond to nothing BUT Eight. I must have been a lunatic! I didn't do it on purpose! At lunch, I was nibbling the end of my yummy hot dog and staring off into space like my normal weirdo self. Someone was trying to get my attention. "Cheyann.. Cheyann! CHEYANN!" They even snapped their fingers in frount of my face, and I stupidly did not notice anything. Finally they shouted, "NUMBER EIGHT!" And I jumped up from the table and yelled, "WHAT!"
All my troop was laughing with me at that point. Tami said, "Well, Cheyann, I guess your new name is Eight now!" And ever since then, everybody at school, at home, and at girl scout meetings, they would call me Eight. Well, folks, I'm 15 now, and not in Girl Scouts anymore. I'm still called Eight rofl
