I remember, once upon a time, I could see the sunlight pushing through the water. It was trying to reach the bottom where all of the other soulless, loveless shells sat, filled with only saline and sorrow. And here we were, floating in the deep blue sea, practically weightless, propelling ourselves through the ocean without any care in the world. Where did we go wrong? I remember you and I walking hand in hand, beginning at START. One small obstacle continued to grow bigger and bigger, the hurdles becoming taller, becoming so tall that we couldn't even see the tops. We never knew where it ended. And somehow, we overcame said obstacles and pushed them behind us, sealing them up in a door and drowning the memory with salt water. Somewhere along the way, we screwed up-----no, I screwed up. I left you accidently in one of those chambers, watching your confused expression as to why I was doing it. To be perfectly honest, I wish I could go back, but I can't. I can't suck you through that tiny tube and propel you back out to meet with you again. I could only fill your chamber with water and watch one tear stain your face, a reminder of all that you are to me. I watched it wash away in the clear salt water; I watched you dissolve. Tonight, I build these walls around me. I watch the water pool around at my feet before I shut my eyes and wait for it to swallow me.
Tonight, I will drown with you.

Title:
The Chambered Nautilus

Artist:
Scars Of Life
-
Description:
In my AP English class, we were asked to write about the chambered nautilus, and relate it to life. If you don't know what a chambered nautilus is, it's like...a weird shell thing that builds chambers and fills them up with water and then propels the water out to float and sink and propel through the ocean. But it can't go back through those other chambers (the water goes through tiny tubes or something). I'm sure wikipedia would do a better job of explaining.
