• Chapter 1

    Gen looked up at Masamori with wide eyes.
    "You're taking me with you?" He asked.
    "Yes I think you're ready for a mission, I want to see how well you'll do on your own, so I can tell weather you can be trusted to stay in your human form." Masamori replied. He really thought Gen was ready for his first mission. That and he might need some back up. He wasn't exactly sure what the problem was, all he knew was that there were some reports of a girl seen trying to slice several people that saw her, to ribbons. Few had gotten away uninjured. This was all happening around the place he had met Gen. In fact, it was the exact same place. Masamori wasn't sure if Gen could handle going back there so soon, he might turn into his true form. But if that was what it took, it was a risk he was willing to take. In fact, it might mean a new member of the Yagyou...


    What are they doing back? Lissette thought as she stood in the tree where she could get a good view of coming intruders into the woods. She had seen what had happened on the night that that tall guy in the blue robes came here. He had that Shishio boy with him too. She'd always felt sorry for that boy, his sister too. She had always been in the top branches of the tree he always hidden in. It had only been a month since the tall guy had come for the kid. Why is he bringing the Shishio kid back? Is he letting him go? Lissette looked down hopefully. She edged out a little farther towards the end of the branch. She'd always been kind of jealous of the kid too. He and his sister fought a lot, but at least he still had one. Hers had died when they were only seven years old.
    …Argh! OK, no more thinking of Azza. Whenever Lissette did that, she broke down and cried. Which was why she rarely thought of Azza. Just then Lissette noticed that the tall guy had stopped walking, and was looking in her direction.
    "What is it chief?" the Shishio kid asked.
    "It appears we've found what we're looking for." The "chief" answered looking directly at Lissette.
    "I don't smell anything, or see anything. Are you sure?"
    "Yes. Look up in that tree there." He said pointing straight at Lissette. Lissette glared at him, but didn't move. Shishio stared at his "chief" for a minute with a confused look on his face, but looked at where he was pointing. His eyes widened when he saw Lissette. She jumped out of the tree and started running. They followed. The chase was on.

    Gen could not believe what he had just seen. That girl had jumped out of that tree, started running, and was out of sight. And it only took two seconds! Maybe! She was also the weirdest looking ayakashi he'd ever seen, she looked a lot like a human. Then again that probably wasn't her ayakashi form. Her human form was a girl about his age, with long, dark brown hair, brown skin, and when she was glaring at them, her eyes looked like they were glowing bright green.
    "Gen, are you ready? This seems like it might be a tough one." Masamori said.
    "I can handle it." Gen replied.
    "Alright, if you're sure."
    Masamori started running. Gen followed.

    They followed her into a clearing. She stopped running and spun around. Swords sprouted from her hands, and she lunged at Masamori. He dodged her attack. She got ready for another attack. This time at Shishio. He grabbed the blade of her sword, and threw her to the ground. She got right back up again, and wiped some blood off of her upper lip. She turned away from Shishio and headed right for Masamori again. This time he was ready. Just as she had sprung from the ground and almost had him, he formed a zekkai. She bounced off of it like a rubber ball. Then she tried to get up again, but collapsed. She had passed out from the force of the zekkai.
    "Come on Gen." said Masamori "We need to get back now. Before she wakes up."
    Gen nodded and followed him back to the Yagyou.
