Prolouge: This is my story
When you think about videogames, often you dream about going into one and having the adventures the characters do, not really thinking about if there is another realm or dimension out there. I sure as hell never thought about it. That was until I nearly got blasted while I was out running and practising parkour.
It was a sunny, hot los Angeles day and I went out, did my thing flipping, vaulting, climbing, it was my way to get away from the world. And when you’re an Aussie kid like me, in a new country and know no one, you generally have a lot to get away from, like crazy bosses, and some of my workmates just hated me cuz of my accent, and there was 1 more thing that would jump on to that list as I was running, something I only thought existed in video games. A witch, throwing gravity spells at me. Well it made one thing clear: this was not going to be a normal day at the office.
“BLOODY HELL!” I screamed as a ball of dark energy whizzed past me, vaulting off a table to prevent being blasted. Next second im cornered and a giant ball sent at me and I’ve got no escape.
Luckily I Bolt upright in my bed, in a cold sweat at 2am in the morning, the 3rd day since actually living in America, and im starting to regret that decision, I mean just cuz one guy doesn’t like my accent, hes trying to turn the whole staff against me. Unfortunately for him, im not deterred too easily, especially when it’s a chill job with good money like working in a surf shop in Hollywood. There is one person who hasn’t said much though and I cant get a bearing on, she’s not acting like this guys sheep but their dating. Why am I thinking about this now anyway? Better clear my head like I always do, Parkour.
Now parkour at 2am is pretty fun, especially when you haven’t had the chance to explore yet, and I had the day off so maybe an exceptionally early start was what I needed. At least that’s what I thought at the time. Because as I was running, jumping climbing, I saw movement and I instantly got ready for a fight but then noticed three things: A. the person ahead was injured, B. The person ahead was female and C. it was the same girl I couldn’t get a read on from the shop earlier. What the heck was she doing out here, injured and without her boyfriend?
“Hey you alright, mate?” I asked as I ran up to her.
“huh, get away from me!” she half yelled through her tears.
“hold on, im the new guy from the shop, just let me see to your injuries, and ill leave you alone if you wanna be alone” I said. To be honest I didn’t wanna leave her out here, I said that to break the ice she knew she was gonna need those injuries looked at, and I was offering. Looks I was going home shirtless.
“um.. ok, the cuts on my arm” replied the girl Cautiously.
“ok, let me have a look at it, what happened may I ask?”
“My boyfriend threatened me with a knife to have sex with him, I kneed him in the gut and ran, and he swung the knife and got me” reminisced the trembling girl.
“shhh shh its ok playa, im here, my house is not too far from here, I can set up a second bed and you can sleep at my place for however long you need to and I give you my word that I wont jump your bones” I said with a smile as I took off my shirt and used it as a bandage on the girls arm.
“ok im Kelly Grayson” said the girl as I helped her up.
“I’m Aero “suicidal” Sands” I said as I shook her hand.
This is our story.
Chapter 1: Tempest, Wipeout, Endgame
So after I met Kelly we walked to my place, she didn’t have her things, so I let her borrow one of my smaller shirts and pants.
“We’ll buy anything you need tomorrow, I have a small fortune saved away as backup just in case something went awry with the job” I said as we made her bed.
“Thanks, Aero I really appreciate this” said Kelly as we threw the pillow to the top of the bed.
“one thing, tomorrow I’ve got my first match at the nearby fight club, against some guy named james stump” said Aero excitedly.
“that’s my ex-boyfriend” said Kelly timidly.
“ok, ill teach you how to brawl tomorrow, so if any of his mates try to intervene, you’ll be able to help out, a’ight playa” said Aero confidently.
“ok, I’d like that” said Kelly as Aero turned the lights out and left the room
The next day we both woke up at about 9 am, had breakfast, chatted a bit then we went to a design shop I knew of, to get her some stuff, (including appropriate gear for fighting and parkour), then we went back to my place, got changed and went to the fight club so I could teach Kelly how to brawl.
As we get into the ring, I show her how to punch effectively, how to kick, how to springboard off the ropes, even showed her how to do some vaults and her own experience in gymnastics and dancing allowed her to think of her own moves and move set.
“so, you thought of your signature move yet?” I said as we went to the locker room, and I pulled on my signature fighting gear: My gloves, my Signature shirt, with the symbol of air and the brilliant garuda design drawn by my friends back in school and my arm bands with the garuda on it.
“I know what I want to use as my finisher” replied Kelly as she got into some blue clothing, she shouted over the partition.
“That’s always a good start, Just make sure youll be able to use it at a moments notice, every second you waste gives your opponent a chance to counter it, maybe even into their finisher” I said walking into the main locker area.
“ok, ill keep that in mind, btw I’ve told them to introduce me as Aqua” said Kelly as she came out.
“Alright, cool name, lets get ready to head down to the ring” I said as we walked to the ring entrance.
The following match is scheduled for 1 fall.
Coming down the ramp, From LA, California, weighing in at 257 pounds, accompanied by enigma and fortune, SHAAAAAADOOOOOOWWW.
His opponent, From NQ, Australia, weighing in at 235 pounds, Accompanied By Aqua, AEEEEEEEEEEEEEROOOOOOOO.
“oooh looky here, the new guy fights, ya cant beat me, cuz I’m undefeated and a new guy like you wouldn’t stand a chance” Said James, apparently called shadow when he’s in the ring.
“Bring it on dude, your about to learn why I don’t have a practical use for gravity” I countered as I did my Taunt, The straight edge X.
“Ring the Bell” yelled the ref and we just went at it, rights lefts, all blocked or dodged on both sides. Then I pushed him away, and scored a kick that made a resounding sound when I hit him. As he got up, I ran to the turnbuckle and jumped up.
“Time to fly! Here comes the BOOM!” I yelled as I leapt off and turned in the air Performing one of my signature moves, The whisper in the wind, In honour of how much The charismatic enigma had an influence on my live in the moment personality.
At that moment, his boys fortune and enigma tried to intervene (DQ-ing shadow in the process, mind you) and that’s when I called to Aqua that she could help.
“AQUA LETS BRAWL!!” I shouted as I started sending shots left and right to fortune, enigma and shadow. Luckily when she makes her entrance, she does it with a certain beautiful but painful flair. Like whatever the heck she did from the top rope that was combination of an airbourne and a clothesline from hell, Taking out all 3 guys.
“Hey Aero ready to see my finisher” Kelly said as she Kipped up and stood next to me.
“Oh yes, lets see it” I said choke-slamming fortune, while Kelly picked up enigma in the fireman’s carry, pushing him up then grabbing his neck and dropping, with his head smacking on her shoulder (almost like an air Stunner).
“THE WIPEOUT” yelled Kelly as she delivered the blow.
I looked at her with an exaggerated shocked look and then grabbed Shadow in a fireman’s carry and threw him up and as he came down slammed him.
“THE TEMPEST” I yelled with a sadistic look on my face.
We then pulled enigma and fortune into position at opposite turnbuckles for one more move, summed up by one word.
“ENDGAME” said the two of us as we ran to the opposite turnbuckle and did a reverse frontflip on the rebound and splashed our opponents. At least what was left of them after our finishers.
Neither of us realized it at the time but those 3 words, Tempest, Wipeout and endgame, would be what was our saving grace in the weeks to come.
