part 2
Come morning, I laid in my bed wide awake. Not once had I slept, due to the images of her running through my head all night. Every time I closed my eyes, her face appeared, as did the memory of her soft skin. When I rolled over I found myself staring at the wall. The whole night, I itched to touch her once more. At one point, I rolled over onto my right side and there she lay, looking at me with those seductive eyes. When I had reached out to touch her arm she vanished and I was there grabbing air like a fool. The pain I felt, knowing she was just right outside my door, killed me. Growing frustrated, I flung the blanket off of me and stood, my hair sweeping my shoulders just barely. I began to pace my room weighing my options out. I could either ignore the fact she’s here or just walk out of my room, or I could stay put and no trouble would be caused. Though, if I were to leave the room and she were to still be asleep then what, then again it was my house after all. Feeling like a complete idiot I stalked over to my door, unlocked it and walked out into the living room. The early morning sunlight shone dimly through the windows, allowing everyone to know it was rising. I looked over to the couch and there she laid, sound asleep curled up in a ball. The dim sunlight shone down onto her head like a light from heaven. Her blond hair, curled around her sleeping face, her long black lashes sweeping over her cheek bone barely touching like a butterflies wings. I could feel a tugging in my heart as I stood there watching her. I wasn't sure if it was the fact of looking at her in such a manner or the fact knowing I couldn't touch her. Shaking my head I walked into the kitchen and began to make a pot of coffee. After turning it on I walked over to the window and opened it just enough so I could light a cigarette and not have the smoke bother the sleeping angel. A cool breeze blew through the window and over to Whiskey, blowing small strains of curls over her face, tickling her below the nose. She moved slightly and slowly her blue eyes began to open. She sat up and rubbed her eyes as she stretched, looking around the apartment trying to remember how she got there. She turned to look at the windows and her eyes grew in fright. I smiled softly and took a drag off the cigarette.
"Good morning sunshine." I said cheerfully.
"I'm making a pot of coffee. When it's done I'll make you a cup."
She looked at me blankly before nodding and standing from the couch. "By any chance could I take a shower? I feel disgusting." she asked a little shy.
I nodded and led her to the bathroom in my room. I grabbed her a long shirt of mine, and pair of boxers, being all that I really had she didn't argue. She took the clothes and locked herself in the bathroom. I stood there looking at the closed door, my hand rising to touch the one thing that kept us separated for the time being. I could hear the water turn on and the sound of the zipper on her dress slide down. I moaned with agony, but turned away and went back to the window to finish my cigarette. I was cooking breakfast when she finally came out of the bathroom. Her hair wet and straight momentarily, her slender figure swallowed by the over sized shirt. As she stood there before me looking as such, the sleeve on her right arm slid down, showing her bare shoulder. A bit my lip and looked back down at the food.
"Where should I put my clothes?" She asked.
"Throw them over there." I said pointing the knife over to a pile of clothes.
She shuffled over to the pile and dropped her clothes on top of it. She walked over to the window and picked up a cigarette out of the pack. Lighting it she turned to me and took a drag off of it.
"Do you mind?" She asked blowing the smoke out the window.
I shook my head and kept my gaze down at the food. I refused to look at her while she was in that state, I wasn't sure that if I looked at I would be able to control myself.
"So Mr. Heart." She asked taking a drag off the cigarette. "I wanted to thank you for last night. Most men would have taken the opportunity that you had last night." She paused which caused me to look up at her. Her blue eyes were fixed on whatever was going on outside, the sunlight making them look almost green. She turned and looked at me with the most innocent look and smiled. "I don't think I could ever thank you enough John."
I laughed and shook my head. "It's not a problem Ms. Locket."
Whiskey looked at me sadly and pushed away from the wall, walking towards me her eyes fixed on mine.
"Please call me Whiskey. I believe we're past manners." she said shyly.
I smiled and flipped the egg omelet over into a half then flipped it over once more. For a moment the only sound that could be heard in the apartment was the sound of the egg frying. Whiskey giggled and walked back to the window.
"So are you still willing to take me home? I'm sure my mother is panicking right about now." She asked.
"If you still need a ride I will offer it. May I ask you Ms. Locket, how old are you?"
Whiskey turned to look at me shocked by my question. "John, I thought I asked you to call me by my name, and I just turned 21 last week."
I smiled and shook my head. "I'm sorry Ms. Locket, but whiskey doesn't sound like an appropriate name for a young lady with beauty as amazing as yours."
Whiskey smiled shyly and took a drag off of the cigarette. "Who said I was a young lady and with amazing beauty as you stated?"
I laughed and turned the stove off sliding her food onto a plate. "Ms. Locket, you're food is ready. Please come have a seat."
She flicked the cigarette out the window and took a seat at the table. She looked over the omelet and smiled before picking up her fork and digging in.
"I'll make you a promise." She said as she swallowed her first bite.
"If we meet again and you sweep me off my feet, I shall tell you my real name. Until then I'm Whiskey, it's my alias." She said winking as she put the second bite in her mouth. I smiled softly as I pressed the coffee mug to my lips. "If you say so Ms. Locket." I muttered before taking a sip of the too warm liquid.
"So how old are you John?" She asked me as she sat in the passenger seat of the car.
I stopped at a red light and smiled. "Twenty-two."
She looked at me, her eyes growing wide with shock.
"I don't mean to be rude but you act older then twenty-two."
I laughed lightly. "As I said before my mother taught me well."
She nodded and turned to look out the car window. "Do you still stay in touch with her?"
I shook my head forgetting she couldn't see my actions.
"No, when I was sixteen she left."
The light turned green and I drove down the road. Whiskey was quiet for a while, which bothered me, due to the urges resurfacing. I gripped the steering tight and stopped at another light.
"Do you have any siblings?" She asked quietly.
I nodded feeling a bit relived that she broke the silence.
"I have a sister named Sarah who is seventeen. She lives with her father's sister."
Whiskey nodded and turned to face me, her eyes cloudy as though she were about to cry.
"John, I'm sorry to hear your mother left you. I'm also sorry I was such a burden last night as well."
I shook my head and watched the light turn green. As I drove down the road pleasant memories of my mother flashed in my mind, causing me to smile slightly. I could feel Whiskey watching me, wondering what I was thinking about. I laughed lightly to myself figuring it wouldn't hurt to let her in on the memories.
"You know, there is one day that stands out in my mind to this very day about my mother and sister." I informed her.
Her eyes grew big and she turned her body towards me. "Please tell me. I want to know a little about your mother."
I laughed and nodded. "My mother always made sure my sister and I came first. It was a few nights after my father passed away. Sarah was crying in her room about a monster being under her bed. My mother has gone in there and cuddled with her, telling her that nothing could harm her because her father was watching over her. Of course Sarah didn't believe mom and told her to prove it." I paused for a moment stopping at another light, and remembering everything as though it had just happened.
"Mom came into my room and told me to make moaning noises as if I were dad trying to talk to Sarah. I wanted nothing to do with it, I felt that Sarah was acting like she was for attention. Mom had begged me and finally I caved. I stood outside of Sarah's room and waited for my cue. When mom gave the cue I began to moan and make noises. Sarah began to cry and mom held her trying to calm her down. As I stood outside in the hallway I realized just how much our happiness meant to my mother."
Whiskey watched me with tears in her eyes. "Your mother sounds very sweet. I wish I could have met her."
I smiled and pressed the gas pedal. "My mother would have loved you. Sarah probably would also."
Whisky shook her head and looked out the window. She jumped suddenly and looked out the windshield pointing ahead.
"My building is coming up." She informed me. I nodded and drove further down the road until she told me to stop.
I sat parked in front of one of the richest apartment buildings in New York. I sat in my car looking up at the large building, wondering exactly who whiskey was.
"Thanks again for last night. I hope we see each other again." She said as she climbed out of the car.
"I'd like to hear more about your mother. Hearing the stories makes me happy." She said smiling, with joy in her eyes.
She ran around the front of the car to the building and waved good-bye to me before going into the building and disappearing completely out of my sight.
I sighed heavily and pulled back into traffic. The angel in my life, the one I had only met the night before was now gone, probably never to be seen again.
I turned the radio on hoping it would distract me from thinking about anything other than my driving. Sadly, the radio didn't help at all and I ended up turning it off.
My mind raced with thoughts of Whiskey and my family before we were torn apart. One moment the thought of how soft Whiskey's skin was played through my head, then the next memories and images of my mother raced through. Unable to take the emotion I pulled over near a park and got out. Squatting next to my car and clenched my teeth and fists as tight as I could and screamed. Tears poured down my face, the warm liquid dropping off my chin. As I sat squatted there I could sense people watching me. I stood and looked around, many people stood watching me. I laughed nervously and climbed into my car. I sat there a moment and looked into the empty passenger seat where Whiskey once sat. I wanted her company back, let alone I wanted her back. Feel juvenile, I pulled the car into drive and pulled a u-turn to head back to my apartment. As I drove home, many things puzzled me, One. I wasn't sure if someone could really fall in love at first sight, Two. Who was Whiskey Locket, and Three. Would I ever see her again?
