During Dinner I listen to my Mother, also known as Ma’am Mary, talk gibberish about Sue or whatever is the name and how she has this and that and that she doesn’t have this or that. Forking through the carrots I get to asparagus, my favorite, I take a bite of it. How can Father stand Mothers constant complaining? Everyone says that they can ignore her for the simple reason that she is beautiful. Ha! Who would think that old bag who is my Mother is beautiful, certainly not me.
While my Father stands up and leaves, the family finishes up the conversation and ideas rush through my mind on what to do for fun. Everyone pours out of the dining room and I go to my friend’s cabin to see if we can do something together for any type of amusement. I knock on the door to his cabin.
“Hello, what’re you doing here?” A tired Jonathan mumbles.
“I was just speculating if you want to get off your idle butt and have fun.”
“Okay, but you know it’s getting late, right?” He put emphasis on the ‘right’.
“No, I just thought the sun wanted to turn off! Of course I know it’s getting late! The darker it gets the more fu—.” The ship Maria swings and I tumble over, “Whoa! That must have been a hug wave!”
“Yes, it was! I didn’t quite fell over, unlike you.” He smirks
“Okay, so do you want to come or not?” I get myself together and brush off my knees, then gave him a glare.
“Okay I’ll go.” Jonathan’s eyes were glowing with excitement.
After making plans to wreak havoc upon the crew, we start to get ready for the fun me and Jonathan are going to have. Beaming I slip on my shoes and I buckle them, how fancy. Soon we head off to the stairs knowing full well that after this is over, we both are going to get in some gigantic trouble with our parents. I whistle and we both count to three.
“One…Two…Three!” We say in unison, and we run off screaming we plan to go to the top deck and make sure that the crew men have trouble with us, plus we were always curious what was up there, what could be so wrong with the top deck that we weren’t aloud onto it?
Yelling, we are running up the stairs, pretty soon we stop to take a quick break to rest. We both laugh as we get ready to make an ascent up the stairs, but we hear loud voices talking wondering what is going on, so we run off yelling again, having the time of our lives. Getting closer to our destination, Jonathan gets held back by one of the crew members but he shouts at me to keep on pushing on, I do as he said. Nearing the top deck I gasp for air, running from the ship’s crew is hard and especially on stairs.
When I get to the top I see that hard and wild rain is pelting the deck, I stare for a moment thinking if I should go back or not, but I smile happily knowing it’s going to be so much fun running up and down that deck. Laughing I sprint off at full speed making sure to dodge any objects that are in my way. I see tarps in the distance so I decide to run there, my curiosity over powered my will to not to look.
As soon as I reach the tarp I gasp with surprise, I find a family huddling together, well atleast a young boy and an older girl about my age. My God, she was beautiful, wet curly hair swung in the air from the harsh cold, wet wind and her eyes where a deep hazel, she wore ripped up clothes that obviously had been through wear and tear and she looked very fragile. How can one person be so, striking? I stood there looking at her, I felt a warm rush in my body as she blushed and looked away.
Soon one of the crew members got a hold of me telling my that my mom doesn’t want me to be up here and how I shouldn’t be up her, all he does is nag as he drags me away. I stare at the gorgeous girl; she locks her eyes onto mine. I wish I can look at her forever, but I know that I have to make sure that I get her name. I won’t live without it! I know something is different about this girl, and I want it.
When I get dressed out of my wet clothes and into my sleeping at night clothes, my mom is standing waiting for me. I know that I have a lecture coming about when I see my father walk in. Sighing I sit on a chair after they do and I rest my head against the chair head and close my eyes.
“Now Stephen James Anthony Shnyder Jr. I am very disappointed in you! You worried me to death when you are up there, you know you aren’t supposed to be up there, what in the world gave you the idea to go up there anyways?!” Mother’s eyes have flames in it, which somewhat scare me.
“Like you’re mother said, you need to know your boundaries...” Father has gleam in his eyes and his words were sarcastic, he knew something was up with me, he understood everything.
“George! You’re supposed to be non-sarcastic with me so we can figure this problem out. Stephen frightened our neighbors on this crew.”
“Yes, but he’s a young man and he gets curious, it’s good for him to go on adventures like this it gives him wisdom. But on some parts you mother is very correct, you cannot create chaos all around you just so you know this and that, your supposed to do it in a very secretive way.” He winks at me and I grin back.
“What are you men talking about? Sometimes your kind confuses me…” Mother angrily stomps off with a huff and a puff.
“Glad that’s over with, thanks Pops.” I stood up and was about to leave when my father said, “Now I know you saw people up there, tell me exactly what you saw.” He was serious.
