I am the master of my fate.
I am the captain of my soul.
Those are the only wordsthat have kept me alive up until now. Rather strange how a formation of letters or words in a poem can motivate a person of my stature. a servant of a master who cares nothing of anothers life. I figure that I'll eventually see to it that I will leave this place of torment.Leave this hell for young women, and become a teacher to those of the younger generations.
When I first arrived at the Desnoir Manor I thought; how strange that one man could live alone in such a big house. Unsure of what may happen that very night. The master is but a young man, no older than 22, about one or two years older than I. As a person his mannerisms were quite misleading at first. He seemed kind, and very welcoming to his servants. His house hold contained but only four butlers, and twelve maids. The head maid changed every other week or so. My fears oly began once I figured out why. Moans, and objections could be heard through out the household. Screams of terror from time to time. A new maid the days after.
"Why did you decide to work here ?" Master Desnoir one day asked. I stood before him in his office slightly fidgeting, wondering what to say. "Well. . . .?" Biting my lip I avoided his gaze. His peircing green eyes staring me down as though I were a wolf who disobeyed it's pack leader. "Are you going to answer me?" he asked. I could sense the building impatience in his tone. "T-to make money to go to school." I answered, keeping my eyes to the ground. "For?" he asked again. His patience still wearing thin."To become a teacher. . . ." I replied. Master Desnoir continued to stare at me intensly as I continued to fidget. I then curtsied as I turned to excuse myself from the room. Although, by the time I placed my hand on the door knob I felt my masters heavy breathing on the back of my neck. How in the world. . . . I pondered. Questioning how he managed to approach me so quickly. "Olivia. . . .do you wear perfume by chance?" he asked. I looked up as his eyes continued to stare at me, now through strands of cole black hair. "N-no sir." I replied, once again avoiding his gaze. I turned my head toward his ring and tilted my head slightly, to examine its features. I heard him say something, still in observance as he then used his other hand to take hold of my face, turning it to face his. "I expect you to give me your full attention Olivia." he hissed. "F-forgive me Master Desnoir." I said. Trying to prevent my body from quivering. His grip on my jaw tightened as my entire body tensed. "Who are you to be giving me orders?" he asked calmly. His eyes giving off the intensity of a snakes. "P-Please my lord, f-forgive me for being so prudent." Master Desnoirs' grip loosened on me as he then let me go. Finally setting me free from his presence.
I walked down the Manor halls with new sheets in my hands as I kept a swift though steady pace, in order not to be punished. It had been over a month since my horrific encounter with Master Desnoir. "LIVI !!!!" Called a hyper active voice from one of the newer maids of the household. I turned to see a girl no older than fourteen, with blond hair, and brown eyes. Her skin as pale as a porceline dolls. "M-Molly shouldn't you be out in the gardens?" I asked. She then smiled, as cheerfully as she usually did, without a care in the world. "But if I take a bit teh git tha ol' thing done, then it'll be a bit till I 'ave teh do the kitchen." she commented. I looked around cautiously in order to make sure no one heard her and beckoned her to follow me. "And just where do you think you're going?" Demanded another womans voice. I looked up to see an aging old red head, who carried a sneer on her face as she set her eyes up on Molly. "Isn't she supposed to be in the gardens ?" I took Mollys' hand and kept walking forward. "The Master gave me permission to lead her about in order to teach her how to do things around here. Unlike you Miss Beckings." The old womans sneer turned in to a glare as she moved her gaze to me. Raising a hand to strike, she was suddenly stopped by a familiar ringed hand that belonged to none other than Master Desnoir. "Elenore, you know that punishments are no longer up to you." He threatened. His eyes then moved to me. "And besides I did as a matter of fact give her permission to teach little Molly how things are done around here. So in the future, please refrain from striking or beating any of the other servants." I stared up at Master Desnoir in absolute confusion. Questioning the type of man he really was. Was he going to call me to his office and punish me when given the chance? Or was he going to let me go without any sort of harsh scolding or conversation?
