Today I gained my new suit, ES-1. It is a prototype suit built personally to my skills. Training went by as if I were back at boot camp, only easier. The new idea of energy- based weaponry is a breakthrough in G.F. technology, even though the Chozo people discovered it's applications years ago as a weapon.
My reflections seem to constantly go back to the day I first heard of my heroine, Samus Aran, on planet X-52. My home planet was much like K2-L: an Earth colony, under Federation protection, and a source of Fuel Gel. The fuel gel was like magma in some parts of the planet, much like Bryyo, but there was no sentient species before it's colonization. the pirates raided the planet for fuel gel on my 18th birthday. We were going to have cake and ice cream after I got home from work, but then terror struck. The refining factory I worked at for 2 years prior had been rocked by an explosion. At least 50 of us felt the blast from across the complex, and we knew what had happened. I hurried and grabbed a welding gun, hoping to be able to use it to try defending my home, but I was easily overpowered and rendered unconscious.
I woke up a few hours afterward in the middle of the burning wreck that remained of the factory, and walked out to find a warrior in yellow armor among my people. My first impression was that the village was still under attack, until I got closer and heard cheers. The warrior's name echoed through the crowd: "Samus! Samus! Our hero!". that very day I joined the Federation Army.
My commanding officer and Drill Sergeant was a man by the name of Allen Hitchenson, a no- nonsense kind of guy. He served for over 20 years, of which he fought in 35 small campaigns against the Space Pirates, traveled to 59 different planets, and operated as part of three battalions, the most recent being the same I served under until my assignment to the ESTARE project. So far, the project contains 10 or so soldiers deemed to be at the top of their specialty; I happen to be specialized in combat with weapons based on thought, much like Samus.
It took me years of training, but I managed to develop the best shot with my 'repulse gauntlets'- a weapon I designed myself to engineer energy armament capabilities with the armor systems directly. It is extremely difficult to destroy because of it's design to include the weaponry components that are also suit components and shielding systems components throughout the suit. My design was at first frowned upon by R&D, but as soon as they actually analyzed the blueprints they were ecstatic to begin development of this system. Once the prototype was finished it was outfitted into my suit and looked slightly awkward. It was also rather heavy, but they assured me that the upgrade they intended on designing would eliminate any problems I had. Little did I know it was a modified PED suit.
