I am flying, soaring from the incredible high of the adrenaline rush. I see them before me, cowering, terrified and awed. I am now a force to be reckoned with.
I wake up. I’ve had that dream again. The dream where I am no longer the menial, the subordinate. Where I am strong, strong enough to put fear in their eyes. They can no longer be cruel due to the sheer terror I instigate. They are scared, but also in awe of my astounding power. I am invincible, there, in my dream, and they know it. They cringe, vulnerable, as I look down upon them mercilessly. I feel wonderful. I love, I relish, the sensation of becoming the predator, and they my prey. They can no longer oppress me. I look around my room, at my meager belongings, and I hear a shrill shout. “Are you up yet, you lazy, shiftless…” I clamp my hands over my ears, unwilling to listen to a monologue on the subject of my uselessness. Yes. There is a monumental divider between dreams and reality.
