- Someone once told me the grass was much greener on the other side. I went over to see the fabled, prophetical lawn; however, when I arrived, I found that it was infested with weeds and the grass was painted. Nothing was as it should have been. People wore masks to hide the disfigurement of their disposition. Kings and queens, lords and ladies, even dukes and duchesses are put on display for the simple minded peasants. Shadows whisper ideas into the ears of a noble until they are driven mad. I notice then that the process repeats in the sons and daughters of the nobles. Was this my fate? To be found by a handsome prince only to be made insane? What would have happened if my voice had never been discovered? Would I be in this grave right now? Would mother be in this grave instead of me? It makes one wonder, is ignorance truly bliss or are we all just living in blissful ignorance?
