tab Each character's name has a meaning, so here they are. Some of these characters haven't appeared yet.
Gabriel- “champion of God” is a genius, discovered how to bend reality. Champion of all in his own mind, also “god” in his own mind, he is driven insane by his own power.
Samuel- “God hears” from another dimension, falls to Earth because Gabriel opens a dimensional rift by changing reality. If Gabriel considers himself “god” then Samuel is the one who “god” hears because very few people are able to see or hear Samuel. Samuel also hears “god” because he listens to the call of Gabriel’s power. Also, was a prophet in the Bible, in this story he is a different type of prophet. Is one of the few sane characters.
Athalia- “the Lord is exalted” she’s obsessed with Gabriel. Also, she is a famous serial killer and a famous actress. Insane, obviously, she gains the thrill of being a criminal completely in the public eye as a beloved actress.
Delilah- only in for a short portion of time, the meaning of her name is not as important, but whom she portrays is. Delilah was a biblical temptress who betrayed Samson. Delilah betrays Gabriel, as she is the one who delivers him to the fate of an insane asylum.
Prologue:
tab Gabriel sat in a dimly lit office. Papers were scattered everywhere; they coated the walls, floor and ceiling. It was nearly impossible to distinguish where a wall ended and a door or window began, even the furniture of the bland room was nothing more than masses of paper. The walls, which were once a typical off-white, were now colored in every ink and paper combination imaginable. It was chaos that only one man’s mind could comprehend.
tab Such the man was Gabriel. He was a genius, and he knew it. Acclaimed as a prodigy from a very young age, he had always had an acute fascination with the abnormal. He wanted to figure out the unknown, discover the unimaginable, and do the impossible. Some called him insane, while others who knew him personally could easily defend his brilliance. At the moment Gabriel was 20 years old and on the verge of discovering a formula that would allow him to bend reality.
tab Not even old enough to drink, and barely old enough to vote, Gabriel had already accomplished much more than many men do in a lifetime. But he found this formula to be his greatest work, the one that he was willing to loose his mind over. Gabriel was completely focused in his study, absorbed in it to such an incredible degree that not much could have shaken him. He could feel how close he was, he could taste the knowledge he would soon acquire. It was only the matter of one variable, one damned variable.
tab The door opened gently behind Gabriel, a few papers fell from it, and he took no notice. A pleasant looking young woman entered, the clack of her 3-inch heels was dulled by the mass of Gabriel’s work, which had taken over the floor. She wore her caramel brown hair tied back into a neat bun, and the all over tidiness of her appearance was a complete contrast to her surroundings. Her eyes desperately tried to hide her deep innocence, but failed to. She made her way over to Gabriel and placed her delicate hands on his shoulders. An involuntary flinch ran through his body, and managed to tear Gabriel from his work for the moment.
tab “Gabe? Are you doing well in here? It’s been near a week since you left the room, and I’m getting worried…” her soft voice was tainted with unease.
tab Gabriel looked up, his eyes bloodshot and wild, deep purple colored beneath them. It was vibrant against his sickly pale skin. His normally beautiful and well-kept fiery red hair was now a complete disaster, sticking out in every direction. A disturbing, impish grin broke apart his face, and he threw back his head letting out a horrible, hoarse, creaking, and beautiful laugh.
tab “Doing well? DOING WELL? I am doing fantastic Delilah! Do you know how close I am?” his speech was interrupted by his disgusting laughter, he could barely control himself “….oh hohohohahhahahahaHAH… Delilah, Delilah, Delilah! Do you know… ha… what has been keeping me in… AHA… here for so…so… HAH… long? It is this glorious… AHAHA…. Impossible formula! I’m so… heeeheee… close!”
tab “Formula… Gabe…? What f-formula?” Delilah was visibly shaking from Gabriel’s outburst.
tab Gabriel swiftly stood, Delilah jumped back from the sudden movement, and he spread his arms out and gestured to the blizzard of paper. “THIS! This is my magnificent formula!” Gabriel swung his arms in around himself, holding his sides tightly, and began laughing manically once again. After a minute he began to gasp for air, his words came out choked, “this formula will… will… allow me… to control reality… can you believe that Delilah? I am so close… to… to that kind of power!”
tab Delilah was terrified of the man who stood before her. She slowly inched her way back to the door, not taking her eyes off of Gabriel. She stumbled as she backed into the open door, looking back briefly she moved around it and out of the room. Closing the door, Delilah began to tremble more fiercely. She could hear Gabriel’s laughter starting up again; it would haunt her for the rest of her life. She reached with frightened fingers to the phone to make the call that changed this world in unimaginable ways.
tab “Excuse me….” And so the conversation began. It resulted in men in white jackets coming to take Delilah’s boss and lover away to a blinding white room where he was to be kept in solitude, deemed unfit to be among society. In said white room is where he would sit for years on end, until the fateful day when he would discover that last variable. Until the day when he’d meet Samuel.
