• Chapter 6

    Every day, Serenity would sneak up to the roof with food and water for Ranzaroth. She would just sit next to him and talk and talk and talk until her lungs couldn't give and Ranzaroth just sat there listening. She would tell him about her life, her feelings, and her problems. Ranzaroth began to understand why Serenity was the way she was. Now, he would think twice before answering her a question.

    -Two weeks later-
    "Hey Serenity?" Ranzaroth said turning to her. Serenity had just climbed up to the roof with a bottle of water on her hand. William was out fencing and no one was in the house except Lawrence.
    "Yes?"
    "Do you know what time it is?"
    "Um Yeah." Serenity checked William's wrist watch, which she took from his drawer. "It's 12 'o clock."
    "No... it's time for you to return to HQ... along with Matt and the others." Serenity got on all fours untop of him and gave him a strange look.
    "But what about you, sempai?" Serenity said with a cute face. She looked down at him. His shinning gray eyes looked up at her lingering midnight blue stare.
    "I-I have to stay here... until Elric comes back... did you just call me sempai?"
    "Yeah... go Japan... but anyway, you can come with me."
    "I can't. Your pass is rare. It only lets you go, one way only. Then the paper burns up. I can't use it 'cause the paper is under a spell. It doesn't work with anyone else."
    "Well I'm not leaving until you leave."
    "Fine... suit yourself. You do realize if you don't use it, it will burn up."
    "It's okay... as long as you're here, I wont get burned." She said with a smile.
    "Okay... now get off me, Serenity. Don't take advantage just because we're not on my world." Serenity sat up infront of him.
    "Nope... but welcome to mine!"
    "I tought you hated humans."
    "No. Remember, I was human. But, if it helps, Matt dislikes humans."
    "Oh..."


    Six month passed since then. Ranzaroth was slowly falling in love with Serenity. A feeling he never sought within him. Every day, he would eagerly wait for Serenity to come up. He found himself always wanting to listen to her sweet voice and looking at her sparkling blue eyes. Still, he had no idea he loved her.

    One day, on the roof, Elric appeared with a smile on his face infront of Ranzaroth, who was sucking on a lollipop Serenity left for him.
    "Master!!" Elric kneeled down and wave his hand rapidly. You could tell he was nervous from the look of his eyes.
    "Elric. Elric. Elric." Ranzaroth said with a disappointed tone.
    "I'm sorry if I took long. I came here as soon as I heard about you." Ranzaroth sighed and stood up.
    "Don't need any explanation."
    "Ahh!" Ranzaroth and Elric turned around and saw Serenity on the small door. Her shirt got stucked in screw and she couldn't get out. "A little... huh?" Serenity saw Elric looking down at her. "Hi, Elric. Tall as always, eh?" She joked. Elric chuckled and smiled a yes. "Ranzaroth, could you give me a hand?"
    "Certainly." Ranzaroth walked over to her and helped her out. Sadly, her shirt got ruined. She took it off and underneath, she was wearing the top. "Serenity?" William poked his head through the door. When he got a look at Elric, he narrowed his eyes and sigh. "That's it! I officially declare my room and roof a soulHQ hotspot." He said as he climbed up. Serenity smiled and turned back to Elric.
    "Elric, William. William, Elric." They shook hands and backed up.
    "Serenity, it's time to go back home." Ranzaroth explained.
    "W-What?" William asked. He stepped forward to Ranzaroth. "You're taking her away... after all this time?"
    "Well yeah... she's a soulwatcher. She's suppose to be in HQ during registration." William narrowed his eyes and bit his bottom lip. Serenity, who had feelings for William, obviously didn't want to go.

    "Can't I stay... just to properly say goodbye?" She asked turning to Ranzaroth. Ranzaroth looked at William, who was looking down at the floor.
    "(How can I deny?)" He tought. "Fine. The portal will be opened all day tomorrow from six to six. You have until then to come back." Elric opened the portal and they both stepped inside. The portal closed and Ranzaroth was gone.

    "Serenity... Why did you do that?" William asked as he placed his hand on her shoulder. Serenity's cheeks turned to a pinky red color and smiled.
    "I still have many things to say before I go..." Her cheeks turned competely red. William noticed. He found it weird all of her constant blushing but he ignored it.
    "C'mon lets go get some lunch."
    "Where are we going?" She asked as she walked down the stairs inside.
    "I dunno... what are you in the mood for?"
    "Pasta!"
    "Okay. It's pasta time!"


    William took Serenity to a fancy italian restaurant. Serenity ate like a princess. While William ordered a steak with a side salad, Serenity asked for a pene pasta with sausage. And in the end, William treated her to her favorite thing in the world: cheesecake. After they finished eating, William took her to the movies. The thing was: William wanted to watch an action flick but Serenity wanted to watch a horror film.
    "B-B-But have you even seen the preview of Kill with me? It's so awesome!" William said pointing at the movie poster infront of them.
    "But I want to watch something that's scary."
    "Well then I'll show you a picture of my grandmother in a bikini. Just please watch this movie with me."
    "... wow that is scary. Anyway, I wanna watch a horror film."
    "Which one?"
    "Friday the 13th."
    "Hmm... okay but just because it's your last day with me and I want this to be a night to remember."
    "Yay!"
    "Two tickets, please." William said turning to the cashier inside the booth. "Thanks." William gave her the money and grabbed the tickets. "Lets go."
    "Are you gonna buy pop corn?" Serenity asked, wrapping her arms around him.
    "Why? Do you want?"
    "Actually, no."
    "Me neither. I am full anyway. I'll just buy a soda."
    "Buy me one too."
    "Okay." Serenity walked inside to grabb some seats. It's been a long time since she's gone to a theater. HQ has one but she rarely goes since it's on the second top floor. The comercials began and the room was getting full. Serenity placed her jacket on the seat next to her so no one would take it.


    Meanwhile, back in the death realm, Gontou was training Matt. Matt looked different now. His eyes have lost the glitter it once had and around them are huge black circles that makes Matt look as if he hadn't slept in ages. He no longer wore the HQ uniform. Now, he has a traditional japanese-looking outfit (Like a robe tied with a rope around the waist and some long and big pants).
    "Okay boys, time for a break." Said a voice from behind. A woman with short brown hair carried in her hands a tray with some tea.
    "W-Who are you?" Matt asked as he grabbed one of the cups
    "Me? Oh I'm Patty."
    "Patty? I'm Matt. Have we met before?"
    "Maybe. Patty used to be a soulHQ soul keeper in the human world before she decided to join me." Gontou said as he blew into his tea.
    "Really?"
    "Yes... but now I completely hate humans."
    "... I just dislike them. I find them disgusting."
    "Why?"
    "Well... they make the laws and they break the laws. It's all them."
    "Good point..." Patty smiled. "So what're your goals, Matt?"
    "I want to be the child of prophecy."
    "And why's that?"
    "I want to be superior then any being in this whole world. I want the respect and power I deserve." Matt said coldly.
    "Wonderful. If you ever succeed... destroy the ENTIRE human race for me, please."
    "With pleasure." Matt smiled darkly as he finished his tea.



    Back in the movie theater, the movie had begun. William had already returned from the concession stand with two large sodas at hand. While Serenity was almost asleep, William was freaking out next to her.
    "Don't go inside the shed. Don't go inside the shed. Jason's in there." He whispered into the darkness.
    "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Yelled the guy in the movie. William closed his eyes quickly. "I told you..." Just then, Serenity's head fell on his shoulder. She was sound asleep. William hesitated and smiled.
    "Nothing's too scary for you..." He sighed and calmed down.
    * * *
    "Serenity... Serenity... Serenity..."
    "Huh? Unh..."
    "The movie's over let's go. It's night already."
    "Really?" She asked still half asleep.
    "Yeah. C'mon."
    "Hm... okay."


    Serenity and Will were walking down the sidewalk towards the house. William was telling her the movie since she missed it.
    "Oh my God... that movie was so lame... I live a scarier life back in HQ." She compared.
    "Haha. Hey Serenity..."
    "Yeah..."
    "When Ranzaroth left... you said you still had many things to tell me. What are they?" Serenity blushed. "Ugh! Why do you blush so much?"
    "........... I'll tell you when we get out of this snow and inside the house."

    Once again, it was sneaking in for Serenity. William had to go in the front door but Serenity had to deal off with the blue camera bird and infrared lights. Luckuly, after six month, Serenity's gotten used to it.


    "Hello, Oscar." William said to his dad as he entered the house.
    "Whatever. William, have you seen my case?" Oscar was looking around the big house entry for his suitcase.
    "I think it's on your study."
    "Which of all of them?"
    "The one on the third floor, Oscar."
    "Yes, of course." Oscar went up the stairs.
    "Yes, of course." William imitated in a mocking way. "Not even a thank you." William jogged up the stairs and hurried to his room. He opened the door and found Serenity climbing in through the window. He ran over to help her inside.
    "Gah!" Serenity fell untop of him.
    "Ow... my rear side of the head..." Serenity chuckled and got off of him. Just then, the phone on William's room rang. "Shhh." He hushed Serenity. "Hello?"
    "Hello, William?" said a deep voice.
    "Yes, Oscar?"
    "Lights out."
    "Since when do you care?"
    "I said: Lights out!!" Oscar hunged up the phone. He was acting weird all of a sudden. William ignored it and told Serenity to hurry up and shower 'cause it was time to sleep.

    Finally, both of them were showered and ready for bed. They were both untop of Will's bed just staring at each other silently.
    "So what was it that you wanted to tell me, Serenity?"
    "Will..." Serenity blushed... Big time. Will raised an eyebrow.
    "Yes?"
    "I... I..."
    "You? You?"
    "Well I don't know how to say this... but..."
    "Oh just spit it out already!" He was getting impatient.
    "I like you..."
    "....... what? As a friend?"
    "No... as in more then a friend. I love you." For Will, that was unexpected. Serenity looked down at her lap.
    "Wow... heh... that was....... wow..." Will was still in shock.
    "Do you feel anything towards me?"
    "Honestly, Serenity. I never tought about it."
    "About what?" Serenity looked up.
    "About you and me together... as a couple..."
    "Oh..."
    "You see, I've been so focused on protecting you and avoiding you being discovered, I just forgot about everything else."
    "... so you don't like me back?"
    "Put it this way: I don't love you as much as you love me... but I still love you, come to think of it."
    "So you do love me back?! A little?" She asked hopefully. Her eyes filled with happiness.
    "Yes." Serenity began to talk about how she'd been hiding all of her feelings up to now and about all the times she blushed and yada yada yada. Will got annoyed quickly. So he did what he does best and kissed her. Except this time... it felt different. He felt "the spark".
    "...... wow......" He said as he backed away. "You felt that?"
    ".........."
    "Oh yeah I forgot. Women become speechless after one of those." He rolled his eyes. Serenity's face turned hot red. Her tempeture rised up and she began to sweat. Will placed his hand on her forehead and raised an eyebrow. "Serenity, you're burning up. Are you sick?"

    And so DeJaVu again. Serenity kissed William backed.
    "Damn, you're a good kisser." She said as she got untop of him. She kept trying to kiss him but he just dodge.
    "I know... all of my previous girlfriends tell me the same thing but it was just to shut you up 'cause you talk to much, Serenity."
    "I... I..." Serenity sat up. "I'm sorry." Will sat up as well.
    "What's wrong? You look glum?"
    "Tomorrow I leave... I don't want to leave... but I don't want to quit either."
    "... I can't believe I'm saying this but... I think you should go."
    "What?"
    "All of your dreams and goals are set on HQ. I'm just a meere puppy love." He bragged.
    "No, you're not. Trust me... I know what that is... I once tought I liked Matt... but boy, was I wrong."
    "..."
    "I want to make this a night to remember. A final day with my beloved William." William got closer to Serenity and so vice versa. Slowly they kissed. They fell back on the bed and kept kissing. William took off his jacket and unbuttoned his shirt. Serenity took of her shoes and shirt and they just kept kissing.

    It was definitely a night to remember for both of them.
