Joan woke up frightened by the darkness. She had awakened in a dark forest not knowing how she got there. ''Oh my god'' Joan said quietly. She was so frightened, so scared. The last she remembers she was in her bedroom falling asleep while looking out of her window. The night had been dark and cold as the storm raged outside her window, rain lashed against the glass and the lighting flashed showing her glimpses of the forest across the field every flash made it seem as if the forest had been calling her......
She could remember now.... A dark figure had appeared before her window, a figure that appeared to know her, be part of her. Joan was very confused but quickly snapped back to realize that she was still in the forest. Her worst nightmare had just become reality. Alone in the forest Joan stood up in panic and looked at the her surroundings, she knew this area as she had walked in many times before, close to her a tree that she had climbed many times before. Joan knew that her house was only a few yards away and she immediately sprinted towards the direction of her house. When she arrives she fell onto her knees shocked and in fear. The field were her house used to stand was now empty, no house and no sign of life was anywhere.
Joan turned around several times searching the area. She was sure this was the field but nothing was there only emptiness and the light of the moon. Joan looked around some more and noticed that everything was dim. Looking up at the sky she noticed it was clear and sunny but it was like looking threw smoked glass. She started to panic. Where was she? Where was everything? Where was her house?. Looking around hard she caught a glimpse of something.
A dark figure zoomed across the field. Joan turned towards it, panting heavily from panic. The dark figure now appeared from the fog walking up to her slowly.
''Don't be scared child'' The Figure spoke in two deep baritone voices. ''Everything happens for a reason'' the figure said. Joan was now hyperventilating, the situation was more terrifying then anything anyone could take. The sky darkened into complete darkness, a full moon decorating the sky lending a little light to her ordeal.
The shadowy figure walked up to her. Her panic heightened when she saw its face it was a mirage of swirling shadows and lights almost like looking into a giant hole where everything disappears. she tried to take a step back but was frozen in place. "Do no fear me child for i am your salvation" the figure spoke in his hauntingly beautiful voice. "wh…wha….what do you want with me" Joan stuttered while breathing heavily
The figure now moved closer its face changed into a faint face of a woman. ''I don’t want anything with you'' the figure said ''It’s what you want from me'' It said its voice now becoming soothing. Joan now all of the sudden opened her eyes to be back in her bed looking at the ceiling strange people surrounding her. She could make out the faces of her parents standing in the corner of the room. Joan tried to speak but couldn’t she tried to breathe but... couldn't. In an instant she was back on the field with the mysterious figure. Joan was crying heavily. ''What’s going on'' She asked while crying heavily tears running down her face
"you are dying" the figure said with haunting finality. Joan just stood there. How can that be I was healthy, I am an athlete, I can’t be dying. The figure looked sad "you are my child and only I can help." "how is that possible how can I be dying it doesn’t make sense’’ Joan said in a doomed voice ." I did everything I could, I was healthy."
Joan was now looking at the ground in despair. ''Come with me. There is no pain were we are going'' The figure said. Joan refused to follow and all of the sudden is looking at the ceiling in her room her parents now holding her hand. Her mother was kneeling on the floor next to her bed weeping. Joan tried to speak but nothing would work, she tried to move and her eyes opened faintly. Her dad quickly moving close to her ‘‘ Joan? ‘’
"Joan? Joan can you hear me “her dad said in a excited voice.
She began to make a sound but she was again looking at the shadowy figure. “ Why am I here " Joan screamed at the figure. "you are here to find help “the figure said in a quiet voice. Joan was to tired now to even fight against this weird world. "What kind of help can Iget here?" Joan said in a quiet voice as she slowly sat on the ground .Her father’s face appeared in front of her.
She was now returning to her room and the strange world at a frequent pace; her father now clutching her hand trying to comfort her. Joan noticed flashing red lights that seem to be of an ambulance. Her hearing completely disappeared, her mother was now trembling and crying harder then Joan had ever seen before and her father whom she had never seen cry was now crying heavily. All of the sudden the figures two voices appeared in her head speaking in the most perfect voice she had ever heard ''It will be alright. Were you are going there is no pain. There is no pain. no pain....Only peace... peace for all who embrace it''. Joan who grew weaker opened her eyes one last time looking at her parents ''It will be alright.....there is no pain....Only peace'' in an instant Joan was back in the mysterious world.
She had a feeling of ultimate peace and and tranquility.’’ Come with me child.... there will be no pain'' The figure said reaching for Joan’s hand. Joan accepting the figures hand looks into the sky a bright flash filled the area. Back in front of her house the weeping of her parents fills the surrounding. Joan now being transported by the EMT's will never open her eyes again as she is in no more pain, but a last tear runs down her cheek as they zip up the body bag
