• Glimmer of Hope Chapter 1:


    Varda had stayed up all night studying for her arithmetic quiz.


    "Varda! Varda!" Varda's little sister Arien came running into her bedroom as Varda was carefully putting all the books, loose papers and scrolls into her book bag.

    "What is it Arien?" She asked.

    "Naneth says you're going to be late if you don't hurry." Arien stood in the doorway.

    "I'm hurrying! Now please shut the door so I can change." Varda asked nicely, but Arien just stood there. "I'll tell you what. If you let me dress, while I am at school you can ride Anfaloth." Arien's eyes gleamed, she loved Varda's horse. The door slammed shut and Varda sighed.

    She pulled on a red linen tunic, black hose and a leather girdle. Pulling on her boots as she ran out of the door, Varda snatched her bag quickly.

    "VARDA!" A loud voice boomed downstairs, she winced and threw the bag over her shoulder.

    "Catch Varda!" Aros threw an apple to Varda as she was running out the door.

    "Le hannon Aros." She said gratefully. In the stable was Arien, grooming Starlight. "Thanks Ari!" Varda nudged her sister aside and jumped onto Starlight. Nudging him into a gallop, they headed to the Rivendell Learnery.
