I Wonder What It'll Be: II
-
Humans swarmed along the peer reminiscent of repulsive little insects. Music blared from every direction caressing me in its eccentric and perplexing rhythm. Music… I sighed a happy breath of air. Music was definitely one of the best things the humans had created. The magic created by the notes clawing at the sound barrier could match even that of a demon or angel. It was so pure, so raw, a source on energy of unexplainable supremacy!
I sauntered on through the crowed until I came to a lovely little shack with barstools set along a counter. The bartender was serving colorful, nonalcoholic drinks, to the teenagers who sat at the counter. Girls in short skirts, tight shorts, and miniscule shirt sat in the laps of too tan, excessively muscular, and foolhardy boys. They chatted loudly and with an air of excitement that was, in truth, overbearing.
Placing myself comfortably into a barstool, I crossed on pale leg covered in the frayed white material, over the other. My elbows rested on the counter and my chin was positioned carelessly in one hand as I surveyed the drink selection. It took me a moment to realize that the conversations of those nearest me had come to a stop. I looked away from the menu and toward the closest group, who happened to be one of the couples I described before.
The boy was darkly tanned from natural sunlight, whereas the girl I could tell was artificially darkened. Muscles that were roped a little too thickly, for my taste, covered his half naked body. He was in a simple pair of swim trunks and nothing more. His hair was black and in stark contrast to his bright icy blue eyes.
And those eyes held such an odd intensity and I noticed that that concentration was directed toward me. A soft frown touched my lips and I sniffed the air inconspicuously, focusing on his scent alone. There was nothing I could detect that was hostile. No what I scented was sweat, slat water, fried food, and arousal. My nose crinkled in revulsion from that last scent. Was that all men thought about? It was the same in all worlds.
My attention went back to the girl. She had brunette hair with natural highlights. Long legs, with a small chest and hips, made up her “perfect” frame. The emotions she was emanating: hatred, possessiveness, and jealousy. That put a cheerful skip in my heartbeat. Her arms tightened around the boy’s neck and she gave me a glare like you wouldn’t believe. Oh, if looks could kill!
Humans were so silly! He sat there practically drooling on her while looking at me and she appeared as if her hair might catch fire at any moment. What neither of them could tell was that I had absolutely no interest in taking her foolish man from her. It came to my attention that they weren’t the only couple with that expression at that time. No, there were several others with similar expression and emotions and scents.
I let out a short and abrupt laugh and turned back to the bartender. I ordered an icy blue colored drink that matched my hair. It tasted of some sort of fruit and was mixed with sugar and certain other ingredients that I could not name. Turning I placed my elbows on the bar once more, only this time I was facing away from it, leaning back against it in a comfortable and content fashion. I ignored those around me, enjoying the simplicity of my beverage. That is, I ignored them until one came hurtling into me.
