:: Betrayed an Old Friend, an Old Love ::

I guess this is how I apologize to you. I'm not actually apologizing for anything, because I do not feel I reacted rashly. But instead, this is me portraying what happened, so people may come to their own conclusions, and hopefully avoid you.

I want people to know, so they may tell me if I reacted badly. I just feel.. so wronged. So heartbroken.

I decided I wanted to go to an old friend's place. I hadn't talked to this person in awhile, besides a couple of pop-in's to see what's new.
I knocked on the door, and immediately I could tell he had redecorated, to say the least.
He completely re-vamped his entire house.

But that's cool, everyone has to change as time goes by. More power to him.

So, I knock on the door, he opens, and he puts on a huge smile. We were both happy to see each other.
He invites me in, and I take a look at his new place.

I can't get over how different things were. Years ago, he took so much pride in those not-so-well drawn pieces that he had framed everywhere. But honestly, the seemingly-poor quality gave it a really nice look to the house.
He used the same exact picture frames for the new--I don't want to say "High" quality, but different-quality pictures.
    Again, that's cool. Change happens.

We sit down on his couch, and he already has a movie playing. This old, nostalgic movie, "Cats Don't Dance." I was crazy about this movie, and he's playing it!
It's near the end, there's maybe 20 minutes left. I tell him that I loved this movie as a kid, and he looks at me, smiles, and says, " You know, I played this just for you."
That was really kind of him, but I knew that wasn't the case. It was still sweet, either way.

So, he slides his arm on my shoulders, and he hits Play, continuing the movie.

I was really getting into the movie, like I did when I was a kid. Absolutely magnificent.
And here comes the climax of the movie! The animals were singing, and the main character lets out this awesome high note--Nicely executed, and so powerful that his bow-tie is flung right off his neck.

Then my buddy pauses the movie. Right when the absolute climax of the song hit. He paused it, and looked right into my eyes.
This is so crazy, I was completely into the movie, so I ask, "Why did you pause it?" Then I look at my watch and add, "It's only been 4 minutes since the last time you paused it."
    It was Silent.
He places his hand warmly on my shoulder and says, "I really just want to talk to you about this product. It can get rid of problematic hair growth like no one's business."
I look at him dumbfounded. "Why would you ask me this? You know I don't need this. I mean, I'm the kinda' guy that likes to watch old animated movies. Do you really think that anyone who would be watching this with you would have 'Problematic hair'?"
He chuckles, and says, "Well, how about this acne treatment?"
Again, I mention in a somewhat-outraged voice that the general audience of this movie would be small children, those without acne problems.

He keeps bringing all this crazy stuff up, and I grow more and more irritated.
Finally, after at least 5 minutes, he says, "Alright, alright. We'll continue watching the movie."
What he did next really got to me. The movie, directly after the climatic high note, has the chorus sing grandly, "Nothing's Gonna' Stop Us Now!"
When he pressed play, his movie player skipped a bit, continuing with, "op Us Now!"

How anti-climatic! How disgusting! I look at him, half-expecting an apology, but he just continues smiling and watching.

Even worse, during the next 5 minutes he whispers a few more "advertisements" during the movie.

Then, after 5 minutes of the movie, he places his hand on my leg and asks, "You know, you're a pig if you don't wear Trojan Condoms when you have sex."

I look at him, and punch him right in the mouth, knocking his black and white teeth to the ground, covered in blood. I take his remote, throw it at his glass face and yell, "You've changed, Cartoon Network! You're not the same person you were!"

I admit, I started crying. I smacked him one more time, and ran out of his house sobbing.

I used to love this guy. With all of my heart. But I just couldn't stand it. I felt so violated. I just couldn't control myself.

    To this day, I haven't visited him again. I haven't given a "Peek-in, 'What's Up?'" as I used to.

I don't feel as if I've moved on.. I guess that's really why I'm writing this.. I still cry at night. I gave him all of my love, and he let me down, destroying a piece of my childhood.

I don't know what to do with myself, but I know that I'll never watch another movie with that man ever again.
