DarkNite World - A Love Story
-
"You're not kidding me, are you?" He asked me. I looked at him.
"Does it look like I am?" I asked.
"Not really."
I looked at the fire in silence a moment.
"So I'm guessing my mother was alive all along. And I'm guessing Amaterasu is my mother." I looked sideways at him.
He leaned against his palms, looking into the fire. The glow of the fire hit his face and accented every angle to an acute measure.
"My mother always told me I had a twin sister, but she told me she was taken by the Dark Ones."
"What was her name?" I asked.
"My mother never told me. But my mothers' name is Amaterasu."
"Hence why you're the Vampire Prince." I muttered, grinning.
"Yeah, my real last name is Keiko. My full name is Kilunar Julien Keiko." He shrugged.
"So you have this lost Vampire Princess." I confirmed. "Do you have any idea who it might be?"
"I heard my mother talking about it to my father once, then name she said was something like 'Nereza,' but I couldn't check. She said how she regretted giving her daughter away to her couzin."
And right there I froze. My fingers turned to ice.
"Did she say who was keeping her?"
"Someone called Nathanel or something along those lines."
My whole body turned to ice.
"That's my couzin's name." I told him silently.
He froze too. His eyes stayed locked on that one burning log.
"My father always told me I'd find her, that she's not dead." He shook his head. "I think he was right."
"What do you mean?"
"I'm saying that if I find my twin I will be able to tell. Twins' sometimes have a bond that cannot be broken."
"Telepathy."
"Exactly."
I stayed silent a moment, listening to the night.
Did I have a twin?
I looked sideways at him. He was looking to the fire again, deep in thought.
"Well... I should probably get some sleep. In three hours we need to get moving." I got to my feet, and I knew he was watching me as I walked back into the tent. I crawled into my sleeping bag and shut my eyes.
I was just about asleep when I felt the gentlest of pressure on my cheek.
"Goodnight, Nereza." He whispered.
I saddled my mare, Lunar, and put my bag on my shoulders.
"I wonder who would know about my past..." I whispered to myself.
He's your twin. Lunar neighed.
"What do you mean?"
You both look alike. You both have the air of authority and royalty on yourselves.
"Don't be ridiculous." I looked at him. He was saddling his horse, in his own thoughts. My heart gave an aching thump when I saw him shake his hair from the nights' rest.
"It can't be possible."
I know what you're feeling, Nereza. You-
"No. Not another word Lunar." I told her sternley. I jumped on her back, sitting myself on her saddle.
"Ready to go?" I asked. The fire was out, the smoke rising in a small wisp to the sky. Everything was as before.
"Just about." He scratched the back of his neck. "Shut up Shadow." He muttered to his horse.
"You can talk to horses?" I asked as he saddled up.
"Yeah. Only horses though." He took Shadow's reins. "Lead on, Nereza."
She looked foward and clucked her mare into gear.
"How will we cross it?" He sighed in frustration, looking at the deep trench that was about twenty feet long. The river at the bottom roared.
"Use magic." I shrugged.
"I have none."
"Come again?"
"My parents believe my twin inherited most of the magic, and all I got was the ablility to lift things with my mind and talk to horses."
"Ah I see."
"I said stop talking Lunar!" I hissed at her. "No, I don't. Stop it."
You're denying the truth-
"Goddess help me Lunar, shut up! It's not true, okay?!" I turned to Kilunar. "Sorry, she's acting strange."
"So is Shadow." He sighed. "Shut up Shadow."
I grinned.
"How about we try to find my powers? Maybe if we combine ours together we can get across or something."
"Worth the shot." He muttered, and got off his horse. I jumped to the ground, and the ground shook.
"What was that?" He asked.
"I don't-"
There was the sound of falling rocks into the water, and the rock under us rumbled and gave way. It started to fall, the horses in a full blown panic and Kilunar with his eyes wide as he tried to do something.
"No!" I yelled, and I pointed my finger at the ledge on the other side.
The rock under our feet halted in midair, and the horses didn't thrash around as much. Kilunar looked around.
With my other hand I pretended to pull an imaginary cord, and the rock was floating slowly towards it. I was exhausted with the power it took, but once it was close enough to the ledge I sighed.
"Go on the ledge!"
"But-"
"NOW!"
He did as I asked, and the horses followed after him. With the rest of my strength I jumped on the ledge before the rock fell towards the water below.
With my arms flailing because I was too close to the edge, I yelped. He grabbed me by my shirt and pulled me on land. I was so scared I hugged him tight and started to cry.
"Don't worry, we're safe." He soothed me.
"I-I know." I sighed, and controlled myself. I blushed and removed my hands from his waist, and started to check up on my horse to keep me busy.
Told you.
"Oh you hush up." I muttered, fixing her saddle.
I saddled up and waited untill he did.
"Where do you think the first one will be?" I asked him as we set off.
"The fire village." He shrugged.
"Good point."
My eyes watched him as we trotted on our horses to the front gate of the village. A guard halted us.
"No entry without permission." He said briskily. My white skirt moved in the slight breeze, my entire legs exposed.
"We are the royal children from DarkNite." He told them.
"That's the lost Princess?" He asked, looking me up and down. It was an excuse to check me out, I saw. I refused the urge to puke.
"The one and only." I sighed. It was a small white lie - I think - so we didn't have to explain.
"Go right on in." He let us through with the wave of a hand, looking at my back as we retreated.
"Ugh three seconds and we meet the first pervert." I shuddered.
"I know. That was just gross." He shuddered too.
"How will we know who she is?" I asked.
"Oh that's easy... I think."
"You think?!" I asked. Great.
"Calm down. All we need to do is find a girl who stands out. We give her the necklace, and tell her to go to DarkNite to the Queen."
"Simple, but I think it'll work." I grinned. I scanned the streets of people. They stopped and stared, and I closed my eyes a moment.
Show me the Fire Power. I thought to myself, and opened my eyes.
And they rested on a girl with flowing red hair to her shoulders. Her dark eyes shone silently, her figure slim. She wore a nice little black dress with sensible shoes.
"That one." I told him. He looked at me and we put our feet on the ground.
We walked slowly to the girl, and she turned to look at us. She saw me, and her eyes widened. She looked at Kilunar, and she looked from me to him and back.
"Can I help you?" She asked.
"Yes. Queen Amaterasu of DarkNite has asked us to come get you. She gives you this, and asks that you go to DarkNite to meet with her." I opened the box with the red pendant.
She took it in her hands and examined it.
"Is that it?" She asked.
"Yeah."
"Alright." She rolled her eyes and tied the necklace around her neck. She picked up a bag and whistled. A lovely black mare rounded the corner. "I'll be over there in a day." She mounted, and winked at Kilunar. I supressed the urge to slap her, for the reason I do not know.
And she faded off into the distance.
"Once down." I muttered, and we walked back to our horses.
Jealous much? Lunar asked.
"Hush up." I muttered. I looked sideways at Kilunar, who was mounting his horse.
I had to admit, he was striking. His face was perfect in it's smooth, flawless skin, his eyes shining despite everything. His lips were up in a smile.
I have a hot twin sister. Was what went through his mind before they sped off out of the village.
"Stupid fly." I muttered, swatting at it with my hand as I sat by the fire pit he had made.
He smiled, looking at the fire again.
"What you thinking about?" I asked.
"My lost twin." He simply said.
His lips were curved up in a slight smile, and I covered a yawn with my hand.
"Jeesh I'm tired..." I muttered, and my head fell to the side and leaned on his shoulder as I started to sleep.
I heard him laugh one low sound and he picked me up in his arms. He put me in my sleeping bag, and I snuggled into a ball.
I felt something brush my left cheekbone, and his finger linger on my lips. I smiled and started to dream.
(Kilunar's P.O.V (Felt like trying something new))
I smiled, she sat up and stretched out, her eyes shut. Her hair was still in a small ponytail, her lips curved into a smile.
I had to admit, my twin sure was something. I knew she was my twin, it was simply a statement of fact. She was beautiful in her white dress, her flawless features accented by anything.
I remembered dreaming about kissing her last night. Her soft, gentle-
"When will we hit the next village?" She asked, breaking my thoughts.
"Not today, that's for sure. Our horses are on strike." I sighed, shaking my head. "They want a day to take a break."
"Okay then." She sighed, and she sat down hard under a tree. "I think I'll try and find some of my powers."
"I'll help you." I offered, holding out my hand so she could get up.
She smiled and took my hand.
(Back to reg. P.O.V. (A little weird for me making a guy's p.o.v.))
He said he'd help me so fast I'd smiled of my own accord, and took his offered hand. He pulled me up fast, causing me to hit his shoulder with mine by accident.
I blushed, and we walked to a smaller clearing not far off from the horses.
"Now, close your eyes and look for power deep inside you."
I closed my eyes. The wind around us picked up slightly, shifting my hair in it's soft touch.
"Look deeper than your own heart."
I looked past my heart, which was aching with feelings and emotions, and met with my soul. It was white and clear of sins, full of goddness and purity.
I opened my eyes.
"Brother, I have some bad news." I told him, shaking my head.
I felt his shock roll through him when I called him 'brother,' but he pushed it aside.
"What is it?"
"We are going to walk right into a trap."
