- Description: We had to do scratchboard in art class. It was hard! Dang scalpule was hard to use. I did a cat and it came out really well for my first try. There were some AMAZING scratchboards though. Holy cow. XD Scratchboard is a techunique in which a surface layer of paint, ink, ect., is scratched with a sharp tool to reveil a color. Basicly surface layer of black ink and the other behind it is white. ^^
