Maybe the reason why you think his head didn't come out right is because of the placement of his nose. To me his nose seems to high up on his face, try moving it closer to his mouth maybe that will fix what you see wrong with it.

- Hmmm.... maybe the angle of his ear and the placement of his nose? Maybe change the nose to a lower position and make his ear stick more away from his head and give it less of a point (Unless you want it pointed)

Maybe its the dark shading that is his shoulder? O.o
I really like this, your scanner kinda made it too dark to really look at it right, but its done fairly well. More practice is all.

- I think it's his nose. It needs to be lower because his head is facing downward.
